Downtime in Ireland.

Thinking, talking, reading, drawing, writing, cooking, walking and cycling. Four weeks away from daily stress. Focussing on ourselves, our goals and time to reflect the time in the past.

We love this country because of the people, their focus of basic things in life, the beautiful scenery and off course: the whiskey :)))

The wind, the rain and cold stopped us from cycling a lot during our one month downtime in one of our favorite countries: Ireland. We did it just once, therefore we went for daily walks and saw amazing sceneries at any time of the day. All in all more we have been walking more than 200 kilometer. That‘s a better start as last year. :)))

oh, nooooo… plastic rubbish everywhere.

In our daily life we already avoid to buy products wrapped in plastic. During one of our walks and stops in the local pub ”Blind Pipers” of Caherdaniel we met a local guy, Vincent Hyland. We had an interesting talk with him.

Vincent Hyland  told us about his activities to save environment in Derrynane and the beautiful nature around and the daily amount of plastic and micro-plastic washed up on the beaches of the coastline in southwest Ireland. Remember, this is the coastline of the Atlantic. Vincent told us that the plastic bottles, rings, etc come from USA and showed us images and videos filmed by himself with fishes and a dying shark which were injured by plastic waste. . Isn’t that crazy.

The following days we walked through the scenery with the following images as result. It’s a shame. Awful.
